“Empress La Jolla's village stay”

Empress Hotel la Jolla is a lovely Spanish-style La Jolla hotel — an excellent spot ten minutes' walk from the beach on an inside street, walkable restaurants and bus access, big spacious very clean rooms with very good soft bedding, a nice first-floor restaurant, an American breakfast kids loved, and a clever free-parking key-drop card system; kids want to return. The complaints: a musty smell in one room; the handheld shower head was unusable and the toiletries poor — the guest rewashed with their own; and closer better hotels exist nearer the beach.
