Above the Kinugawa river with views from spacious comfortable rooms, Hekiryu serves decent casual breakfasts and dinners with self-serve drinks and free evening whisky for highballs, plus parking by the entrance. One severe dissent — inedible food, indifferent staff, guests laying their own futons — collides with otherwise warm reviews; the faded resort town around it adds rust-belt melancholy.
