A traditional ryokan about six to ten minutes uphill from Hakone-Yumoto station, Reinanso wins guests with kind staff, mountain-view rooms and genuinely delicious included meals, many plates of mixed rather than strictly Japanese cuisine. The communal baths impress guests with hot water, bubble jets and a big outdoor tub, and rooms have no shower, so the gender-split communal bath covers washing morning and evening. Soundproofing is slightly weak and arrivals after dinner hour are discouraged, and for this corner of Hakone it reads as strong value.
