Aranwa Cusco Boutique Hotel is a fabulously renovated very old colonial mansion two minutes from the Plaza de Armas — large interiors with local character, pretty courtyards dotted with antique-furniture surprises, spacious rooms with separate baths and street-view balconies, and an amazing post-trek shower. Staff could not be more helpful — Gonzalo, August, Guido, Michael and server Juan Marco all earn thanks. One clear caveat: the breakfast disappointed a guest as thin for the level, with no fish or dairy on offer, though others call it great.
