A good-value hostel in expensive central London — twenty minutes to the British Museum, thirty to Euston, near Great Portland Street and Regents Park tubes — YHA Central has a big pantry kitchen, free post-checkout storage. In-room baths suit privacy-minded women, and beds carry sockets and lamps. Quibbles: rooms run hot, shelves are small, shared toilets cleanest in the afternoon and grubbiest by morning, and rates fluctuate.
