“Arno-side Florence address, frosty staff”
Hotel Balestri is an elegant Florence stay metres from the Uffizi — family rooms split cleverly into two spaces, windows framing the river, Ponte Vecchio and hilltop castle, staff carrying bags up a tiny lift, and smooth check-in and out for most. One family reported sharp lapses though: a doubled city-tax charge, a suitcase that went unreturned until asked for — with no apology — and three staff watching a guest wrestle luggage out the door while one wiped the glass instead.
